• The teeth in between are completely edentulous, and there are no support for placing a traditional bridge

How many implants are needed when you have partial absence of teeth?

The pressure on the jaw when you are chewing food should be equal. When pressure is applied equally, the patient will not suffer bone loss or gum tissue recession. With that being said, there are a number of medical conditions and medications that can cause a more rapid bone loss — the most common conditions are: hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism, vitamin D deficiency and celiac disease, and the most common medications are steroids and aromatase inhibitors. Therefore, fixing the bridge on 2 implants is not always the right solution. It is recommended to use the calculation 1:2 – one implant for 2 crowns. Accordingly, the more teeth that are missing, the more implants will be required.
